Slices of stars: Prepping and slicing starfruit
Starfruit is delicious, and when sliced properly, it’s a perfect little star shape that kids love. Start by washing the starfruit—the skin is completely edible so there’s no need to remove it. However, the outside edges can be a little tough, so run a peeler down those. Then simply slice to your desired thickness. It stores well in Ziploc® snack bags, and it’s a hit in packed lunches! The straw method: Decoring Strawberries
Get your kids to try this fun way to remove the stem and core: Take a straw and push it through the bottom center of the strawberry, pushing the stem and core out the top. Then, serve ‘em up with a lemon yogurt dip. Full Recipe

Dress up some apple rings
Make your apple slices big and donut-shaped and handy for snacking—just slice through from one end to the other as shown. Then make four cuts around the center of the apple slice and push the core out. Top the rings up with your favorite nut or seed butter, and shredded coconut. See? It looks like a donut! Cutting carrots, not corners
Fresh carrots with the pretty green tops are so much more fun (and less expensive) than pre-packaged baby carrots. Trim the tops to desired length, and cut away any unwanted roots. Run peeler down to remove outside skin. This will make the carrots a bright beautiful orange that is sure to tempt your little “bunnies.” If you prefer carrot sticks, simply chop the top off the carrots. Slice the carrot lengthwise and then chop to the desired length. Long strips are called julienne, oo la la! Cutting carrots, not corners
Hello, jicama!
Meet jicama...a veggie with a texture like a crisp apple and a mild flavor. Since the skin is tough, peel it with a sharp peeler or paring knife first, then slice in half so it’s easier to work with. Cut into large half moons, and then into strips. Pre-sliced jicama will store nicely in your refrigerator in a Ziploc® container without turning brown. It’s super succulent and snackable as-is! Slicing in a snap: Sugar snap peas
Sugar snap peas are sweet and crisp and such a fun little package to open. The kids will love watching you slice them and seeing the baby peas lined up. First, rinse and dry. Then, using a paring knife, remove the brown ends and pull back the fibrous string that runs down each side. Slice on an angle to reveal the baby peas or serve whole. Behold the bell pepper
Introduce your kids to sweet, crunchy bell peppers. Perfect for snacking or to have prepped for dinner time. Rinse and dry your bell pepper. Cut off the top and bottom, slice through one side of the pepper to open it up into one long strip. Take your knife and remove the seeds and membrane. Cut into thirds and then strips.
