Drain buttermilk mixture from the chicken and add egg. Close the container and shake until chicken is coated. In a gallon-size Ziploc® brand bag, combine flour, sugar, salt, and pepper. Shake to combine. Add chicken to the flour mixture, seal bag, and shake until chicken is coated.
Cooked nuggets can be frozen and reheated in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes (or microwaved for 4 minutes).
